But at the same time, a lot of people take a lot longer to reach certain points than you seemed to (I've read many different people here saying they didn't have a coop, or complete any bundles when they were in fall or winter of year 1)Ĭonsidering all of that, I think ConcernedApe should work on making the end game much more sandbox-friendly. With that being said, I do agree some of the rewards seem frontloaded, or too late to be relevant. The purpose of the game at that point is mainly to redecorate your farm, finish achievements, and just generally collect stuff. And once you hit the end of year 2, it becomes much more sandboxy like you said. You don't even have to grow crops to make money and complete the game, if you don't want to. GAME PROGRESSIONS HIIDE FREEIt's not full-blown sandbox, but each day you are pretty much free to do what you want. The game kind of is a sandbox in a way though. These are just my 2 cents about reward/goal balance and how it affects early to late game gameplay.ĮDIT: Seems like the consensus is that I should just do less per day to drag the game out, as in no need to rush through the game. The problem is that the game itself is not a sandbox, so that becomes old fast too.Īnd yet, even after all of this I still play it, because I love early and mid game, so I just restart and replay. Late game loses the sense of achievement and people turn to redecorating the farm. My point is that some rewards come to late to be relevant some goals late game are meaningless for the non completionists among us other rewards are plain useless and finally, by end game, what started as a game of resource management (3-4 resources) became a matter skipping days for events to trigger while having infinite money + energy (food -> which implies that stardrops lose the value late game, and are almost unattainable early game when they would be useful and a great reward). At my version of endgame ( by SpringY2) I already am married, I got my barn and coop, I got lots of basic sprinklers producing more money I could use for anything useful, I cleared the community center (with some rng luck) and all that is left for me to do is to become an achievement hunter / completionist. to get irridium! but wait, why do I need irridium for? Oh FOR MY SPRINKLERS. Endgame leads to the most important unlock of all. why would I spend time going thru minerals in the river? Fishing also becomes next to pointless after the fish tank unlock, which on its own isnt that much valuable. Another less useful unlock is the rock on the caves. The pit regens so slowly that the cart and bridge unlock have almost no value at that point either. We wont be going back there for irridium, so that cart shortcut looses its value. But then why would you do that? carts become unlocked pretty much by the time the first cave is almost cleared. Finishing the first cave becomes a priority to unlock carts. Investing for the horse is great, diversification (not selling out in this scenario) becomes the key to unlock rewards in the CC (community center). Once we transition into mid game (summer/fall), where crops and 1/2 artisan workflows are up and running and money can be invested in 1 or 2 buildings, is where things start seeming odd. Love interests also add complexity trying to manage time and energy to court someone. Not much to complain here since the game develops into investing time and energy to build up money. it is therefore thrilling to make decisions and sacrifice one for the other. I am concerned about my experience of what are true goals from the non completionist point of view.Įarly game you manage 3 resources, Time, Energy and money. For thos types of players ANY type of arbitrary goal is valid, as long as the developer made it available, it is meant to be gotten and justifiable there. this is not the VIEWPOINT of an achievement hunter or completionist. But I feel that the game could use some balance in terms of goals and practical use of rewards during the different stages of the game.
